Understandably we receive lots of questions about this method of making rifle barrels. We became aware of research on this method nearly ten years ago in universities and research establishments. We undertook research of our own to develop the process for commercial application. As far as we are aware, we were the first company in the world to do this.
The appeal of this process is that it is highly repeatable and results in superior surface finishes to other rifling methods. Like the button process all grooves are formed at the same time meaning they all have a consistent twist rate
A high level description of the process is a precisely machined electrode is passed through the bore of the barrel in a pressurised electrolyte environment at a specific concentration and temperature. The downside of this process is that it is impacted by multivariate factors not limited to those listed above. A change in anyone of them requires adjustment of others to bring dimensions back to specification.
Customers are reporting back to us superlative accuracy, very high velocities and ease of cleaning.
Currently we have .243″ – 7″ twist ECM blanks 28″ long available off the shelf, other lengths available to order
